Children’s Story Time
Calling all toddlers and preschoolers! Join park staff as they read a selection from our wonderful library of children’s nature-themed storybooks. A special surprise, such as an animal interaction, themed craft, or coloring activity will follow each story time.

Wildlife Walks
Set out traversing coastal sagebrush with chaparral communities on the hills in the lagoon’s south side. Underfoot are broken bits of shells, reminders of the native people who once lived here. You will see the freshwater marsh below, and if lucky, you might glimpse mule deer that reside in this eastern region of the Reserve.

Family Discovery Days: Not-So-Scary Estuary
Meet creepy, crawly, and hooting animals this Halloween at San Elijo Lagoon. Costumes are encouraged. Conservancy volunteers and nature center rangers will introduce guests to the not-so-scary wonders of wetlands. Kids activities include: Trick-or-Treating along the “Haunted Hike” nature trail, where clues help families look and listen for wildlife; Meet nocturnal animals in Live Presentations (2 pm each day); Create lollipop spiders; Design animal face masks; Make animal tracks in the sand, and more!
October 19 and 20, 2013 from 1 – 4 p.m. both days.
