During the winter break, 49 San Diego Junior Theatre students were hard at work getting ready to kick off 2013 with Rippledink’s Repertory. The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (abridged), Go, Dog, Go! and The Stinky Cheese Man run through January 20 at the Casa del Prado Theatre in Balboa Park.
The productions are going to be presented in repertory – a rare occurrence among youth theaters. As the three shows run concurrently, it requires each participating student to be in the cast of one or two of the shows and a production crew member in the remaining one or two. Dubbed Rippledink’s Repertory 2.0 – for San Diego Junior Theatre’s mascot, a court jester of sorts – this is the organization’s second year in a row for repertory work.
Like all San Diego Junior Theatre shows, Rippledink’s Repertory 2.0 showcases the dedication and skills of its students, both onstage and behind the curtain. With guidance from adult professionals, the cast rehearses and performs and crew members prepare costumes, apply make-up, run the stage lights and sound systems, and carry out most all other fundamental theater responsibilities.
The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (abridged) runs on Fridays at 7 p.m. Go, Dog, Go! and The Stinky Cheese Man run on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. Show details and tickets are available at www.juniortheatre.com or by calling (619) 239-8355.
