Surfin’ Santa will ditch his red suit and reindeer to spread his holiday cheer in true Southern California fashion as he makes his annual arrival in San Diego on November 24, 2012. Sailing into downtown’s Seaport Village by yacht and sporting his favorite board shorts and flip-flops, he’ll take a break from his holiday duties to enjoy the San Diego sunshine with locals and visitors.
Kids and adults will greet San Diego’s board short-wearing Santa for a lively parade down the boardwalk after he arrives at 1 p.m. aboard the Corinthian, courtesy of the San Diego Yacht Club. From 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. visitors can take photos with Santa on his giant surfboard and six-foot wave. Festive holiday entertainment, live sidewalk entertainment, and unique shops offering everything you won’t find during your Black Friday shopping, will keep visitors busy during Santa’s warm-weather event.

While getting a jumpstart on their holiday shopping, San Diegans can support Small Business Saturday at Seaport Village. Sponsored by American Express, Small Business Saturday celebrates the Shop Small movement to drive shoppers to local merchants across the U.S.
The fun doesn’t stop with Surfin’ Santa’s arrival. Locals and their out-of-town guests can visit Seaport Village every day in December for holiday shopping at more than 50 local retailers, complemented with free live musical entertainment on weekends. Also, Seaport Village hosts Breakfast with Santa at the Harbor House Restaurant on Dec. 15 and 16. Reservations can be made by calling Megan Capizzi at 619-235-4014.
As a special thank you, Surfin’ Santa visitors will receive a free parking ticket that can be used for additional holiday fun throughout the season. Parking vouchers will be given upon exiting the parking lot and may be used through Dec. 25, 2012 with the exception of Dec. 9 and 16.
Seaport Village is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Stores will observe special holiday hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
