San Diego Botanic Garden presents its annual Garden of Lights holiday event from December 8 – 23 and 26 – 30, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
As the sun goes down, the San Diego Botanic Garden will be transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland with over 100,000 sparkling lights illuminating the Garden for a magical holiday experience. Leave the hustle and bustle of the malls behind and enjoy a relaxing evening strolling through the lighted Garden.
From December 8 – 13 and 26 – 30, families can enjoy winter fun in the snow! Weather permitting, please bring your own sled (no metal runner please).
Beginning on December 15, a team of big Blond Belgian draft horses will provide wagon rides through the lower area of the Garden, the only way to see the lights in this part of the Garden at night.
Live music will fill the air nightly from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., featuring an array of local talent from carolers to Mariachis.
Huddle around the campfire to roast marshmallows. Santa will greet young and old alike each night before Christmas from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., in the brightly lit Gazebo, providing a terrific photo opportunity.
To keep guests warm, there will be hot mulled wine in the Lawn House Garden for purchase. Additionally, the Coffee Hut will be offering hot coffee and cocoa, and supplies to make s’mores to enhance your marshmallow roasting experience. Hungry? El Pollo Loco will provide healthy Mexican fare each night.
Children can create a variety of special holiday crafts to take home. This will be in the Ecke Building, home to the Nutcracker Exhibit displaying a collection of over 50 nutcrackers. There will be additional fees for some activities.
Admission ranges from $4-$12. Fellow and Benefactors Society member are free. Children 2 and under are free and parking is free.
